Former Univ. Of Wyoming Football Coach Paul Roach Passes Away At Age 95

One of the most successful football coaches and Atheltic Director at the University Of Wyoming has passed away.

The University of Wyoming Athletics Department has confirmed that Paul Roach, football coach from 1987-1990 and AD from 1987-1996, has passed away at age 95.

He’s the only person at the University to hold both positions simutaneously.

Roach coached the Cowboys to a Western Athletic Conference championships in 1987 and 1988, as the team went 10-3 and 11-2, with an undefeated conference record in those respective seasons.

He was named WAC Coach of the Year in both of those seasons and in his 4 years as coach, he put together an overall record of 35-15.

Roach started as a coach in 1952 in Hettinger HS in North Dakota.

He served as an assistant coach for UW from 1962-69, Univ. of Wisconsin from 1970-71, the Oakland Raiders from 1972-74, the Green Bay Packers from 1975-76, and the Denver Broncos from 1977-80.

Roach was inducted into the Univ. of Wyoming Athletics Hall Of Fame in October of 1999.
