News – Sheridan Media
The Sheridan County YMCA has shifted gears from summer camps to after school programs.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday told listeners the summer camps at the Y were full this year. Cassiday said staff managed to get through the waiting list to ensure every child had a place at camp.
After the annual maintenance closure, staff returned to work and began the after school programming. Although a waiting list has begun to gather a large number of names, Cassiday and her team are working to get more kids into programs.

According to Cassiday, with the differing bus schedules from the districts, staff has been able to admit more children depending on the time of parental pick-ups.

A mother herself, Cassiday understands the importance of knowing one’s child is safe and remaining active at after school programs. She encourages parents who may be on a waiting list to keep checking with the YMCA.
