Applications for funding from the Sheridan County General Purpose Excise Tax are now being taken through Friday, May 3.

According to a release from the Sheridan County Board of Commissioners, they are encouraging qualified organizations to request funding for FY2024-25.

According to an earlier Sheridan Media story, the General Purpose Excise Tax, formerly known as the One-Cent Optional Sales Tax, is the one-cent sales tax that is levied on sales with the exception of food. The money raised from the GPET goes to pay for projects that may not otherwise be funded by local governments.
