Some much needed precipitation to help combat the Elk Fire is finally on its way.

The National Weather Service in both Billings, Montana and in Riverton, Wyoming has issued a winter storm watch for the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming and Montana.

The watch also includes the town of Story.

The watch will be in effect from 6am Thursday, October 17th until 6pm on Friday, October 18th.

The Weather Service office in Billings is projecting between 7 to 13 inches of snow in the Burgess Junction area.
