U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) joined Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee Friday in calling out the Biden-Harris administration for spreading misinformation about broadband connectivity in the U.S. in a letter to the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. In their letter, the senators highlight how this administration is intentionally excluding data on the connectivity of millions of households that rely on wireless and satellite technologies, particularly in our nation’s most rural and hard-to-reach areas, including many in Wyoming.
Senator Lummis said the Biden-Harris administration’s prioritization of politics over sound broadband policy has sabotaged the $42.45 billion Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program, which was intended to help more Americans connect to high-speed internet. Lummis added that many households across Wyoming rely on wireless and satellite technologies for connectivity in the most rural parts of our state, yet this administration’s decision to play politics continues to push our goal of bridging the digital divide further out of reach.
