During a Veterans Day celebration at the National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois Monday, State Superintendent Megan Degenfelder announced a new collaborative initiative. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The celebration kicked off with the announcement of a collaboration between the Wyoming Department of Education, the University of Wyoming Malcolm Wallop Civic Engagement Program, and the National Museum of Military Vehicles to develop a military history curriculum around World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam Wars. The partnership will work with several Wyoming teachers who focus on these wars to define and execute the work.
Superintendent Degenfelder said the initiative is another step toward their strategic plan goal of developing citizenship for students through enhanced civics education and engagement. Museum Founder Dan Starks said the museum was created to help educate students on the history of American freedom and this new partnership aligns perfectly with their mission. The four piece curriculum series will be available for the 2025-26 school year.
