Sheridan City Council Member Steven Brantz made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse advising the downtown businesses to please use sand or other anti slip material on their sidewalks for at least another year.

With the major construction having taken place on Sheridan’s Main Street, some sidewalks were also replaced. According to Brantz, this new concrete requires some time to cure and may be damaged by salt or deicer this winter should it be used on the walking surfaces.

The City recommends prompt snow removal to ensure ice has little to no chance of building up. Clearing sidewalks of snow as soon as it falls is encouraged to prevent this buildup. This also helps the City keep parking areas clear on Main Street when snow is picked up.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one million Americans are injured each year due to falling on ice and snow.
