SPD warn of scam calls posing as officers

The Sheridan Police Department is making the public aware of scam phone calls occurring claiming to be from the SPD regarding a missed court date. 

According to the SPD, the calls purport to be from dispatch and SPD Lieutenant James Hill. The SPD is advising the community that these calls are not originating from the agency and are a scam. 

SPD is suggesting people please ignore the call. The SPD is also advising people to err on the side of caution when releasing any kind of personal or financial information and to verify the origin of calls received.

If you feel a call may be a scam, Captain Tom Ringley of the SPD advises people to simply hang up the phone and if needed contact the agency or organization the caller said they were dialing from.
