Sheridan County Conservation District and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service help producers through the red tape

Sheridan County Conservation District Manager Carrie Rogaczewski and from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Andrew Cassiday made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public pulse to discuss the 2024 wilfries and how to seek aid.

Community meetings held by the Natural Resources Conservation Service covered what services and assistance NRCS can provide to help producers recover from the wildfires of 2024. Topics included various types of programs, how NRCS can assist and how producers can apply. Many of these programs are still available.

The fires may be out but the damage from the wildfires that struck the northwest of Wyoming will be felt for decades, according to Cassiday. 

There are many programs that can aid producers with relief to begin the process of rebuilding what was lost. Some of these programs do have deadlines. As no situation is the same, Cassiday said simply coming in for a meeting can help sift through the quagmire of requirements for eligibility and figure out which programs will work best for each producer, maximizing available relief.
