This is the third of the stories about cell phone usage in Sheridan County Schools.
Dr. Jeff Jones, Superintendent at SCSD#1, Ranchester and Big Horn Schools, talked about how his schools deal with cellphones.
He said that the expectations were spelled out in the handbook.
When asked if he had gotten feedback on the cellphone expectations, Jones added, “That’s one of the things I’ve been paying attention to, of all the things we’ve discussed as an administrative team, me and the principals of each building, it hasn’t come up once.”
He said it was just an expectation that once the kids are in the building they put their cell phones away. “We have kids that follow the rules, and it wasn’t an issue.”
Cellphones are here to stay, and in many instances they can be invaluable. But there is a time and a place to use them, and as social creatures, kids still need human interaction, so cell phone use is limited in Sheridan County schools.
