The Sheridan-Johnson Local Board at the Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF) has awarded over $75,000 in grants to local causes. These funds, part of WYCF’s competitive grant cycle, will empower various critical projects, enabling nonprofits to continue addressing community needs in Sheridan and Johnson Counties and beyond.
WYCF President Samin Dadelahi made a recent appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse and spoke on The Sheridan-Johnson Local Board funds and how they have grown since the board’s inception.

According to the WYCF, local advisory boards and fund holders provide significant support to various areas of the Cowboy State. The Sheridan-Johnson Local Board funds organizations and projects that benefit nonprofits in Sheridan and Johnson Counties.
“I am continually inspired by my work with the Sheridan-Johnson Local Board,” said Cassandra Hunter, WYCF Programs Associate. “It reminds me of Margaret Mead’s timeless message: ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change their community.’”

Sheridan County School District – Greenhouse to Cafeteria Program
Sheridan County School District #2 addresses food insecurity through a year-round hydroponic lettuce farm. This initiative provides fresh, nutrient-rich produce to over 9,000 students across 10 schools while collaborating with nonprofits during the summer months. Producing up to 100 pounds of leafy greens weekly, the program ensures healthy, locally grown food for school meals and offers educational opportunities. Local board funding will support expanding the program to include additional vegetable varieties and fostering more educational partnerships.
WyldFlower Learning Community STEAM Education Expansion
WyldFlower Learning Community is a K-12 school that emphasizes creativity, independence, and curiosity. The school is expanding its STEAM education offerings to provide more hands-on learning opportunities. By ensuring financial accessibility, WyldFlower prepares students for future success. Local board funding will help make innovative education more accessible to families in Sheridan.
