As the year winds down, it’s normal to see unemployment numbers in Wyoming increase.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly from 3.2% in October to 3.3% in November.
The rate was at 2.9% in November of last year.
The US Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for November was at 4.2%, which is up from 4.1% in the previous month, and was at 3.7%, at this time one year ago.
The unemployment rate for both Sheridan and Johnson Counties increased in November.
Sheridan County went up from 2.8% to 3.2%, and Johnson County went up from 2.8% to 3.3%.
Sheridan County’s unemployment rate was at 2.3% in November 2023, while Johnson County was at 2.7%.
The Department says unemployment rates typically rise in November, because of seasonal layoffs in leisure & hospitality and other sectors.
Weston County had the lowest unemployment rate in November at 2.0%, while Sublette County had the highest rate at 4.5%.
Non-farm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 3,700 jobs from November of last year to November of this year.
