Whitney Benefits Executive Director Erin Kilbride, Northern Wyoming Community College District President Dr. Walt Tribley and Sheridan County School District #2 Superintendent Scott Stultz made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the K-16 Career/Educational Pathways Project.

Within the Whitney Benefits 2023 Strategic Plan, the Board of Trustees committed to proactively shaping the future of education to meet evolving demands in the Cowboy State.

Whitney contracted with a national education law firm based in Washington, D.C. that advises educators known as Foresight Law + Policy to aid in the development of educational pathways to the workforce, with an initial focus on Career and Technical Education and in conjunction with Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon’s Reimagining and Innovating the Delivery of Education (RIDE) initiative.

Both Dr. Tribely and Stultz agree that within the evolving field of education the classical format should and will remain, but not everyone should feel the need or be counseled to travel down that path.

Over the past year, Whitney Benefits has partnered with philanthropic organizations, education and industry leaders and government stakeholders to drive education initiatives that have an impact on students, Wyoming industries and the state economy.

The K-16 Career/Educational Pathways Project will create pathways for students to outline a trajectory of education allowing a student to enter the workforce with the classic education degrees or certifications desired by Wyoming industries.

The current focus of those involved in the development of The K-16 Career/Educational Pathways Project is defining these essential skills that employers need from their future employees and creating a career pathway vision and design framework. The Sheridan County school districts and Sheridan College are working to increase student exposure and exploration to local industry and manufacturing careers and opportunities.
