An alleged methamphetamine dealer was arraigned in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan Thursday. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Alleged Meth Dealer Arraigned in District Court

On December 19, 2024, 50-year-old Jesus Lopez-Martinzez was arrested for allegedly delivering methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Sheridan on two separate occasions in November. The arrest was the result of an investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. Special Agents with DCI arranged controlled buys between the confidential informant and the defendant on November 8, and November 13. Lopez-Martinez was arraigned at a hearing Thursday in District Court. Through a Spanish interpreter, Lopez-Martinez pleaded not guilty to both of the alleged delivery charges.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a four-day jury trial to begin on June 2. A pretrial conference will take place on May 6 at 9 am in District Court. If convicted on both counts, Lopez-Martinez faces up to 40 years in prison and fines of up to $50,000.

Drug Dealer Sentenced in District Court

A sentencing hearing was for 32-year-old Randy Romeo, who was charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance- cocaine, for conspiring with a co-defendant to deliver cocaine in the Sheridan area between May of 2023 and September 7, 2023. Romeo appeared remotely for Thursday’s hearing from the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution because he is currently serving a 3 to 5 year prison sentence for a prior felony drug possession conviction out of Campbell County.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement reached with the State and sentenced Romeo to 4 to 7 years in prison for the conspiracy charge. The sentence will run concurrent to the sentence he’s serving from the case out of Campbell County. Romeo was ordered to pay $375 in court costs and assessments and was given 365 days of credit for time served.
