Wyoming Downs Rezone Approved on First Reading

A request to rezone property on Coffeen Avenue was an item of consideration at Monday night’s Sheridan City Council meeting. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

An ordinance to rezone property owned by Wyoming Downs at 927 Coffeen Avenue was approved on first reading by the Sheridan City Council. City Planner Kelly Schroeder said the ordinance rezones the property from B-1 to M-1 to allow for gambling on the premises. Prior to the Council’s vote, Schroeder provided the background on why the rezone is being requested by Wyoming Downs.

Schroeder said once the zoning issue came to light, the City began working with Wyoming Downs to remedy the issue.

The ordinance to rezone the property from B-1 to M-1 must be approved by the City Council two more times before it takes effect.
