The University of Wyoming is preparing to begin the second cohort of the UW Leadership Academy, an experiential course designed to develop students’ economic and civic leadership capabilities.
The fall 2025 program provides an immersive opportunity for students to engage with Wyoming communities and industries while growing as future leaders.
The Leadership Academy will include visits to communities across Wyoming, focusing on key industries such as education, tourism, outdoor recreation, manufacturing, community services and energy. Participants will gain firsthand experience tackling challenges in these sectors and learn from established and emerging leaders within the state.
“The UW Leadership Academy equips students to navigate the economic challenges of the future while refining their personal leadership abilities,” says Chris Haller, director of UW’s Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics. “This program continues to deliver unique opportunities to foster personal and professional growth through real-world experiences in Wyoming’s communities.”
The academy is a collaboration between the Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics and Leadership Wyoming, an organization with 24 years of expertise in leadership development across the state. This partnership ensures that students are exposed to high-quality leadership training and networking opportunities.
The 2025 student cohort will travel to various Wyoming communities, engaging with local businesses, meeting community leaders and exploring the industries that drive the state’s economy. All transportation, lodging and meals will be provided to ensure an enriching and seamless experience for participants.
Meeting dates, areas of focus and locations are:
— Aug. 21-22: Orientation and education, Laramie.
— Sept. 3-5: Tourism and outdoor recreation, Jackson and Lander.
— Oct. 2-3: Manufacturing and community services, Sheridan.
— Oct. 30-31: Energy, Casper.
— Dec. 5: Final presentations and graduation, Laramie.
