Earlier this week, Johnson County Commission Chairman Bill Novotny asked for approval from the commission to draft and send a letter to Wyoming’s Congressional Delegation alerting them that funding for relief efforts from the House Draw Fire in Johnson County had been suspended and to ask for help in restoring it.

Novotny wanted toget US Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis, as well as US Representative Harriet Hageman involved to try to get funding restored to help those in Johnson County affected by last summer’s wildfires.

In the letter he said although the commission is happy with the change in administration, recent actions will have devastating effects on local ranchers

trying to recover from the fires.

Executive Orders signed after the inauguration have eliminated more than $2 million in funding slated to help those ranching families, as well as freezing federal funding designed to help prevent the spread of noxious, invasive weeds in the burn area.

Novotny has asked the Wyoming Congressional Delegation to help restore the funding for Johnson County.
