Sheridan Man Receives Split-Sentence for Meth Delivery

District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement that was reached between the State and the defendant, and sentenced Daniel Watts to 3 to 5 years in prison for the charge of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. The sentence was suspended in lieu of a 90-day split sentence in the Sheridan County Detention Center to be followed by three years of supervised probation. Judge Phillips stated to Watts that the basis for accepting the plea agreement was his lack of a criminal history and that typically a harsher sentence is handed down to someone guilty of delivering methamphetamine.

Watts was given credit for 19 days of time served of presentence confinement and ordered to pay $375 in court costs and assessments; $500 in restitution to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and $500 to the State of Wyoming in public defender fees.  According to court documents, Watts was arrested on July 15, 2024 as part of an investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation into a methamphetamine distribution ring in Sheridan County.
