Jentel Artist Residency is inviting the community to join the groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, in spending one of the predicted chilly days in the warmth of Jentel Presents.
Jentel reports their new cohort of residents come from far and wide to take inspiration from the beautiful Cowboy State. Jentel Presents provides the opportunity for these artists to share their visual artworks, writings, and maybe a little music with the Sheridan community. This event will take place 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Inner Circle in Sheridan. The public is invited to bring their lunch and cookies will be provided. Jentel Presents is open to all who wish to join.
This month’s presenters include Emily Steinfeld Mahler, Brooklyn, NY. A sculptor, if Steinfeld is on a beach, she is looking for interesting rocks. Steinfeld was born and lives in Brooklyn.
Gerald Lovato from Laramie, WY. Lovato is an interdisciplinary artist and scholar focused on mental health, incarceration, and social justice.
Matthew Latkiewicz from Turner Falls, MA. A nonfiction writer; Latkiewicz lives with his interior-designing wife Sarah, and their cat, George, in Western MA.
Gabriel Mininberg from Denver, CO. A composer, Mininberg is an avid outdoors person and grew up trilingual in Mexico, Venezuela, Guatemala, and the US.
Brenda Melgoza Ciardiello from Fort Worth, TX. An interdisciplinary artist, Melgoza is from Mexico City but has lived all over the world. She lives in Texas with her partner, three sons, and lots of plants.
Nancy Miller-Gomez from Soquel, CA. A poet, Miller-Gomez is a former attorney and TV producer turned poet. She grew up in Kansas but now lives in Santa Cruz, CA with her family.
Join Jentel as they host the next Jentel Presents, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Inner Circle in Sheridan.
The Jentel Artist Residency accepts applications twice a year from visual artists in all media, writers in all genres, and composers in all genres for a three-week residency. A residency includes comfortable accommodation; common living, dining, and recreation areas; a private workspace, and a stipend to help defray expenses during the program.
