Buffalo City Works Director Kevin Silbernagel, in his report to the council at their meeting this week, said the city had been awarded over a million dollars in funds for two city projects.

He explained that he had attended the recent State Loan & Investment Board (SLIB) meeting in Cheyenne, where the city was warded funding by the State Board of Land Commissioners for the city’s Wells Project.

Silbernagel said on the $600,000 loan for the water tank repair project, the city was given $288,460 in loan forgiveness and 0.75% interest on the balance of the loan.

At an earlier meeting, Silbernagel explained that the 600,000-gallon water storage tank, located west of the city, was built in the mid-1990’s and is in need of a new interior painted surface due to 30-plus years of holding chlorinated water which caused the deterioration inside the tank.

The funding will be used to refurbish the interior of the tank, essentially giving the structure another 30 years of useful service to the city’s water system.
