Northern Wyoming Community College District and SCSD#2 held a joint board meeting on Monday, Feb. 24.
SCSD#2 Board Chairman Shane Rader welcomed the attendees and then the floor was opened to Superintendent Scott Stults and Dr. Walt Tribley, President of NWCCD, talked about some of the ways the collaboration between the two helps the students at SHS and Schiffer Schools.

SCSD#2 Assistant Superintendent Kristie Garriffa and Dr. Estella Castillo-Garrison Vice President of Academic Affairs for NWCCD, gave and update on Dual/Concurrent Enrollment, saying that each year the numbers of students taking the classes increases.

They also talked about Dual Enrollment Orientation (WOW!) – where students could tour Sheridan College to get an idea of what the campus is like and what is available there.
Scott Stults & Dr. Walt Tribley discussed work-based K-16 Career Pathways & CTE Updates, saying there are several classes that the students can achieve a certificate, and they can more easily move from high school into the work force.
They also talked briefly about what is happening in the Legislature that will affect the schools, including the repeal of Gun Free Zones and concealed and open carry, as well as the property tax bill, which will affect school and college funding.
The meeting between both boards is held annually to give them a chance to discuss concerns and throw out new ideas.
