The Buffalo City Council, at their regular meeting Tuesday evening, voted to pass Resolution No. 1490 on first reading, setting this year’s allocation from the city to the One-Percent Committee for distribution.
Councilman Wes Haskins made a motion to set this year’s allocation at 25% less than last year, and explained why.
Discussions after the motion included not cutting the allocation quite so much, especially considering the legislature has not passed the property tax bills or the supplemental budget, and setting it so low may be a bit premature.
Councilman Haskins reminded the council that this was just the first reading of the Resolution, and that it could be amended to change the allocation if needed.
