Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez reports 193 hours of SCSO deputies’ time were specifically dedicated to patrolling rural areas to assist producers and protect livestock during the 2024 year.
The Sheriff said with just under 6,000 miles patrolled and 38 specific carrier/producer contacts, 122 livestock were located and either placed back where they belong or producers contacted to alert them to the livestock location.
The Sheridan County Sheriff Office Livestock Patrol is made-up of deputies who have requested the duty, know the producers and ranchers in the area and understand the vital role of this patrol.

Dominguez said contact with the producers is a large part of this duty. Many herds are located in remote areas. The Sheriff said the public and those who live and work in these areas are the best source of information as to what may be typical or need investigating. Dominguez asks the public to report any suspicious activity that may be observed by the public and the Sheriff’s Office will send a deputy to investigate.
