Unemployment numbers in Wyoming increased in January 2025, but compared to the first month of last year, the increase is noticeable.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 3.5% in December 2024 to 3.6% in January 2025.
The rate was at 2.8% in January of last year, and the Department says the new numbers suggest that there are individuals available to fill job openings.
The US Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January was at 4.0%, which is down from 4.1% in the previous month, and was at 3.7% in January 2024.
Sheridan County’s unemployment rate went up from 3.6% in December to 4.4% in January, while Johnson County went up from 3.2% to 4.0%.
Sheridan County’s rate was at 3.6% in January 2024, while Johnson County was at 3.8%.
Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate in January at 2.7%, while Niobrara County had the highest rate at 6.1%.
Non-farm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 4,000 jobs from January of last year to January of this year.
