At its annual retreat on March 29, the Sheridan County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees approved Isaac VanDyke as the new Meadowlark Elementary School principal. He will begin service at Meadowlark on August 4.
VanDyke’s education career spans a total of 15 years. Prior to coming to Sheridan County School District No. 2 in 2015, VanDyke taught math and Spanish in Baker, Montana for five years. Currently, he teaches mathematics at Sheridan High School and serves as an instructional coach. In 2020, Isaac VanDyke was recognized as SCSD2’s Teacher of the Year. VanDyke holds Bachelor’s of Art in Mathematics Education and Spanish, a Master’s in Curriculum Design & Math Instruction, and he has also earned a Certificate in Principal Preparation.
In addition to his academic roles, VanDyke is an active coach in the community. He has served as the assistant coach for indoor and outdoor track and cross country at Sheridan High School and Junior High.
“Isaac is an asset to our district,” said Scott Stults, Superintendent of Schools for SCSD2. “Through his work as both an exceptional mathematics educator and instructional coach, VanDyke has demonstrated a strong commitment to student learning and the ability to support teachers and students alike. We look forward to his leadership at Meadowlark.”
“I am truly honored and excited to serve as the principal of Meadowlark Elementary,” said VanDyke. “The dedication and hard work of the Meadowlark staff are inspiring, and I look forward to working alongside them to uphold our mission, ‘Every child, every minute, every day’, ensuring each student thrives. I look forward to collaborating with them to support our students and school community.”
VanDyke replaces outgoing principal Jennifer Black, who has elected to return to her prior role as the school’s counselor next year.
