At their recent regular meeting, the Buffalo City Council approved Mayor Shane Schreader to sign the loan agreement (DW272) between the city and the State Loan & Investment Board (SLIB) for a loan to refurbish one of the city’s water storage tanks.

Mayor Schrader explained further during the meeting.

The Mayor said on the $600,000 loan for the water tank repair project, the city was given $288,460 in potential loan forgiveness and 0.75% interest on the balance of the loan.

According to City Works Director Kevin Silbernagel, the 600,000-gallon water storage tank, located west of the city, was built in the mid-1990’s and is in need of a new interior surface due to 30-plus years of holding chlorinated water which caused the deterioration inside the tank.

The funding will be used to refurbish the interior of the tank, essentially giving the structure another 30 years of useful service to the city’s water system.
