Museum at the Bighorns Director Carrie Edinger made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to give an update on the remodel of the historic Woolworth building at 171 North Main.

Eight weeks into phase one of the reconstruction project, Edinger said the layout of the interior of the building is beginning to take shape. The focus of the first phase is to provide a welcoming area for many residents and visitors who would like to take a peek behind the curtain during the upcoming 3rd Thursday events.

The museum has taken design steps to open the building into wide space, allowing visitors to see what waits in store for them as they traverse through the exhibits.

Edinger said the lion’s share of phase two will be the conceptual design, construction and emplacement of the area to hold the many exhibits that are planned. Currently, Operation Manager for the Museum at the Bighorns, Chip King, calls this space, “a black box.”

Phase two will also include the preservation room, used to store the more than 30,000 historical items under the care of the museum.
