A collaboration between Science Kids and Sheridan Community Land Trust will offer an opportunity for the public to follow along as Dr. Julie Rieder of Science Kids leads attendees through the pastures along Big Goose Creek, watching and listening for birds as they migrate north to their summer nesting grounds.

SCLT Director of Marketing and Development Chris Vrba made the announcement during an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse.

Attendees will learn some beginning birding skills and build the confidence needed to identify warblers from finches from chickadees.

According to SCLT, the Spring season is a great time to watch birds, with few leaves on the trees and birds dressed up in their breeding plumage.

Attendees are advised to dress for weather; bring binoculars if owned but organizers will have a few available.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and is expected to end around 6 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at SCLT Big Goose Natural Area 14 Lane Ln., Sheridan.
