The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that Sheridan County’s portion of Red Grade Road is now fully open to wheeled vehicles. That portion of Red Grade Road is from the snowmobile turnouts west to the intersection of Dome Lake Road and Red Grade Road. In April, Sheridan County Road and Bridge was able to clear the roadway of snow to the Bear Gulch parking lot. Their efforts continued over the last several weeks and have successfully cleared the snow to the area of Twin Lakes.
The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Sheridan County Road and Bridge crews for their efforts in ensuring Red Grade Road is safe for wheeled vehicles. Moving forward, the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to be mindful of any Bighorn National Forest Service road closures within the forest service boundary and follow the forest service laws.
Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez said the propensity for resource damage remains high and they would greatly appreciate the public’s help in reducing resource damage by operating wheeled vehicles on open, passable roads and remember to not leave the roadways. The Sheriff said that at this time, some roads may still only be passable by high-clearance vehicles and four-wheel-drive vehicles.
