A large crowd attended the Sheridan High School graduation, which was held at the Homor Scott Field on Sunday, May 25. The class colors were brilliant blue and Mediterranean charm yellow; class flower was a hydrangea.

Class motto was, ‘We’ll never be Those Kids Again,’ a quote from Frank Ocean. Class song was, ‘You’re Gonna Go Far’ by Noah Kahan.

SHS Principal Scott Cleland gave the welcome address, telling the seniors that graduation marks a significant milestone in their lives.

Valedictorians were, Jackson Gatskill, Makena Mowry, and Madison Wagner; and Salutatorian was Henry Phillips.

Senior class president Kyleigh Gold passed the branding iron to Junior class president Olivia Hardesty, signifying passing the knowledge on to the next class. Each outgoing class ties their colors to the branding iron.

The Keynote speaker, chosen by the students, was SHS math teacher Isaac Vandyke.

He told the graduates that he was honored and grateful to be asked to speak at graduation.

He talked about the students’ parents and teachers and the foundation they gave them.

Using other math related scenarios, he received several chuckles and laughs from the students and the audience. He said that everything they do should be done with a positive attitude, and they should celebrate the small wins, and help celebrate others wins as well.

He added that every decision they make can have several outcomes. They may change majors in college or have several jobs throughout their lives.

In ending he said, “I wish you the best of luck. Let’s Graduate. “

Tassels were turned and caps were tossed it the air as the students celebrated the opening of new doors and new life experiences.
