Tongue River High School 2025 Graduation

On Saturday, May 31, Tongue River High School held its 2025 Commencement Ceremony at Tongue River High School.

Principal Wade Sanford said that the graduates are prepared and ready to undertake the next phase in their lives.

He introduced Senior Paxten Aksamit, who gave the welcome speech. She thanked the teachers, staff and the parents for their love and support. She said that this was a new beginning as they leave TRHS.

Several students were presented with the honor cord for exceptional scholastic achievement. There were five student speakers, McKinlee Scammon, who talked about how an image of a lost and found popped into her head about her years at Tongue River Schools. She said that they ‘lost sleep and free time, but they found things as well. She talked about the small moments that they will all remember.

Maren Keller was the second speaker, and she told her fellow graduates that Tongue River was a community that would always be with them to support them even after graduation. She told them to embrace the future with their arms wide open.

The next speaker, Alex Whitehead, said that 60% of adults never step out of their comfort zone.

Senior McKenna Smith, talked about discovering new paths and the need to grow. She added that new beginnings are coming for the graduates.

Speaker Kayla Logan talked about the color green, as TRHS colors are green and white, and how it can be the color of life and nature, as it is the color of plants.

Keynote speaker was Robert Griffin, he started his speech by saying that the phase in sports, ‘Never quit’ cannot be applied to every situation, such as drugs or gambling.

He told a personal story about not taking some good advice from his wife, and then added that the graduates should surround themselves with good people, listen to good advice, but ultimately,

The TRHS choir sang Light of a Clear Blue Morning, and there was a slideshow for the graduates, which included advice from the kindergarten class.
