News – Sheridan Media
One of the Sheridan County YMCA’s primary missions is to foster community. Many young couples facing pregnancy, childbirth and raising an infant have a laundry list of questions and concerns.
Fostering a strong community offers numerous benefits for individuals including enhanced well-being and improved mental health. The Sheridan County YMCA has partnered with many local Sheridan organizations and health professionals to offer an eight week course that helps expecting parents answer the multitude of questions many couples have as they prepare to welcome a baby.
Sheridan County YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, this course also builds a strong connection between classmates.

Through the eight week prenatal preparation workshop, trained professionals help answer questions expecting couples may have and inform them of resources available in the Sheridan community.
The next workshop begins July 10, and runs through the 29. Classes are 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings at the Sheridan County YMCA. And for all the expecting mothers who have to carry during the summer months, Cassiday said the YMCA has air conditioning to bring a little relief from the heat.
