Four new residential living places could soon go up on West 5th Street in Sheridan.

At Monday’s Sheridan City Council meeting (August 4th), the council approved consideration for the final plat of the Lindberg Minor Subdivision, located at 512 West 5th Street, which is also the southwest corner of 5th Street and Adair Avenue.

The area is 9,700 square feet, zoned R2.

City Public Works Director Hanns Mercer says the developer is planning to subdivide the space into 4 residential lots.

Mercer addressed the council on what concerns that a few residents had with the planned development.

“During the planning commission meeting, we heard from 3 individuals. They weren’t so much opposed to the sub-division, but more opposed to safety issues such as sidewalk and children in the area. The applicant stated on behalf of who he represents, stated that they do plan on putting sidewalk in front. In fact, it’s fairly easy because you have so many driveways, so narrow, it just takes a little bit of strip to complete that sidewalk, as well as appendix B article 5, when required sidewalks becomes a stipulation. If they’re 50% built out within a 300 foot radius, and 5th Street has sidewalks on both sides, I believe they meet that benchmark where it would be required anyway.”

Mercer added that both 5th and Adair are part of the city’s snow routes.
