Although Sheridan College has taken over management of the Agripark Building, it doesn’t mean the public is being shut out of events being held there.
Earlier this year, the College announced that it will be building an additional 40 horse stalls at the Agripark, which will be used for members of the schools’ rodeo team only.
The team has around 50 members under new Head Coach Robert Harris, with most of them competing in the timed events, and many of them will need a place to keep their 4-legged companion during the rodeo season.
College President Dr. Walter Tribley says with the increase in the numbers for the team, that also means they’ll need more practice time, which will cut into the Agripark’s availability for other uses by the public, compared to past years.
“There will be events that are made open for the public or various groups. We have to determine which ones and how often. It certainly will be less than what has been available, because we now have made a decision to expand the program and so we have to make sure that the facility is first and foremost a priority for that team and then we will make it available as we possibly can.”
The first college rodeo of the season is on September 5th, 6th and 7th at Chadron, Nebraska.
Sheridan College will host its annual event on September 26th, 27th and 28th.
