August is here, and with it comes ‘back-to-school’ for students and staff in Sheridan County School District #2.
Superintendent Scott Stults said he wants to extend a warm welcome back to all of SCSD#2 students, families, and incredible staff for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
He felt that the enrollment would be close to what it was last year, saying they won’t know officially until early September. He did say the upcoming kindergartner enrollment is the larger than they have seen in the past couple years, and that’s encouraging.

He said every new school year is a little different.
He said that they hired less teachers this year than in previous years, and they have seen a reduction in the size of the applicant pool they have to draw from, but the quality is high. “We’ve been fortunate to hire some really, really good teachers.”
He added that the new housing units are working out well for the school district as well. The units at the present time are all full. Currently, the units are all full.
There are two new principals this year, Isaac VanDyke at Meadowlark Elementary School, he is a former math teacher at Sheridan High School. Jennifer Murphy is the new assistant principal at the Sheridan Junior High School.
