News – Sheridan Media

The Sheridan Area Water Supply (SAWS) Joint Powers Board, at an emergency meeting this week, voted to apply for an Emergency Mineral Royalty Grant through the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments.

The grant, if approved, will help fund the Gulch Road 8-inch Water Line Project.

Sheridan County Commissioner Lonnie Wright, a member of the joint powers board, explains further.

Commissioner Wright said SAWS is applying for a $300,000 grant, which he said probably wouldn’t fund the entire project, but will get things started.

According to lands.wyo.gov, the Mineral Royalty Grant program awards grants to alleviate an emergency situation which poses a direct and immediate threat to public health, safety, or welfare; or to comply with federal or state mandates; or to provide an essential public service.
