Sheridan County Library System Director Amy Long reports another record year for the Summer Reading Program.
Last summer, Youth Services Manager Zola Shockley forecasted about 400 children would take part in the 2024 program that challenged kids 11 and younger to read for 20 minutes five days a week. Instead, more than 550 signed up.
This year, Shockley again planned for a slight increase. But Long said the response from families in 2025 far surpassed even those record-breaking numbers.

Long credits two aces up her sleeve: Shockley, whose enthusiasm for reading is contagious, and Community Engagement Manager Cassie Stone.

The Sheridan County Library System has also been present at 3rd Thursday events, the CHAPS Tournament of Knights and the Bighorn Collective Arts Festival.
Stone said providing a comfortable atmosphere with an emphasis on customer service is vital, ensuring every community member knows the library is a place for them.
