The Wyoming Department of Education has released results for the 2024-25 Wyoming Test of Proficiency and Progress (WY-TOPP) and Wyoming Alternate Assessment (WY-ALT).
Statewide performance in all three tested content areas increased by 1-3% over last year, with English Language Arts (ELA) and Science reaching at or above pre-pandemic levels.
Student proficiency increased across the board compared to 2023-24.
Statewide proficiency in ELA was 55.7%, Math was 50.8%, and Science was 51.2%.
ELA scores have returned to pre-pandemic achievement levels with an increase of 2.3% this year.
Math has seen a steady increase since 2021 and remains only 0.4% below pre-pandemic levels.
Science had an increase of 3.2% this year and has surpassed pre-pandemic levels.
Additionally, all grades except six had increased achievement over last year.
Students in grades 3-10 were tested in Math and English Language Arts, and those in grades 4, 8, and 10 had another test in Science.
For Sheridan County School District #2, 10th grade English Language Arts was the only category that was below state average.
For Sheridan County School District #1, the percentage of students who tested at or above proficiency level were above the state average in all grade levels, in all 3 categories.
For the Johnson County School District, 3rd grade ELA, and all 3 subjects at the 10th grade level were below state average.
