Executive Director Erin Butler said Kim Cannon has been selected as the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center’s 2025 Lotus Award honoree.
As the first board chair of the WYO Theater, Butler said Cannon guided the organization through extraordinary financial and political challenges. A steadfast champion of the performing arts, Butler said Cannon understood the theater’s value to Sheridan and the region and worked tirelessly to share that vision. Butler said the WYO would not exist today without the strength, foresight and leadership Cannon brought to its earliest, most precarious days.

An homage to the theater’s original 1920s name, the WYO’s Lotus Award recognizes individuals who inspire passion for the creative arts in Sheridan by demonstrating outstanding support and selfless dedication to the WYO’s goals. Nominees are submitted by past recipients, WYO board and staff members, with final selection by the board of directors.
Cannon will be honored at a private reception Tuesday, Sept. 9.
