Mayor Proclaims September 7-13 Suicide Prevention Week in Buffalo

Mayor Shane Schrader has proclaimed September 7-13 as Suicide Prevention Week in Buffalo, while raising awareness of the 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Samantha Satchell-Smith, Lead Clinician at the Volunteers of America’s outpatient clinic in Buffalo, thanked the city council for their support of suicide prevention.

According to Schrader, suicide is the 10^th most common cause of death for all ages in the US, and in Wyoming it is the 7^th leading cause of death.

In 2023, 156 Wyoming citizens died by suicide.
