Mayor Shane Schrader has proclaimed September 7-13 as Suicide Prevention Week in Buffalo, while raising awareness of the 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Samantha Satchell-Smith, Lead Clinician at the Volunteers of America’s outpatient clinic in Buffalo, thanked the city council for their support of suicide prevention.
According to Schrader, suicide is the 10th most common cause of death for all ages in the US, and in Wyoming it is the 7th leading cause of death.
In 2023, 156 Wyoming citizens died by suicide.
