Crazy Woman Canyon, Forest System Road 33 in the Bighorn National Forest, has reopened. According to the Forest Service, the road was closed this season due to a bridge replacement project and that travelers can now visit the scenic Crazy Woman Canyon but with caution. The road is still narrow and best done at low speeds. There are some locations that are only one-lane wide, please anticipate other drivers and proceed with caution.
Crazy Woman Canyon Road has an annual seasonal closure from March 1 through June 20.
The bridge replacement project was done in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration and Johnson County. As part of the project, Johnson County also replaced a bridge off-forest along the same route. The work was necessary to make improvements to critical infrastructure and was essential in maintaining public access.
