SCLT to celebrate Highlander Trail opening with community BBQ

The Sheridan Community Land Trust is inviting residents to celebrate the opening of a new trail in the Bighorns later this month.

The Land Trust will host a free community barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Aspen Trailhead at Red Grade Trails. This event will mark the official opening of the Highlander Trail, which connects the Aspen Trailhead to the Little Bear Loop.

SCLT officials say the Highlander Trail offers hikers and bikers another way to enjoy the mountains, just in time for fall colors.

Burgers and beverages will be provided, and the celebration is free and open to all. Organizers ask only that attendees bring sturdy shoes, a bike and their sense of adventure.

The Sheridan Community Land Trust also thanked Wyoming Pathways for supporting the creation of the trail that will last for years to come.
