The WYO Film Festival is set for Oct. 2–5 in Sheridan, kicking off its eighth year.
Festival Creative Director Breton Shepard said community support and strong sponsorships have allowed the event to grow in size and invite filmmakers to join in the celebration of film and creativity.

According to the festival, it has partnered with Votemo, a live voting and audience engagement tool designed specifically for film festivals. Audiences will see a QR code on screen at the end of each film and around festival venues, giving them the opportunity to use their phones to rank the films on a scale of 1–5. Votes will be averaged across all audience members who rate each film, rather than counting the number of votes received. That ensures every film has an equal opportunity to win, regardless of the size of the audience in attendance at its screening. Results will be announced in the days following the festival’s close.
Festival passes and individual tickets are on sale now at wyofilmfest.org.
