Sheridan College Fall Semester enrollment numbers show that things are starting to get back to where they were before the start of the COVID pandemic, and there are several reasons for that.
New numbers from the college show that from the start of fall semester 2024 to the start of fall semester 2025, unduplicated headcount numbers at both Sheridan and Johnson County campuses combined are up 8.7% (up 16 students from 1,064 to 1,156).
Headcount numbers are those students who are enrolled in a minimum of 1 class and are not counted again if enrolled in multiple classes.
As for full-term enrollment numbers at both campuses, where the headcount numbers count for each class a student is enrolled in, those numbers are up 3.7% (up 54 students from 1,458 to 1,512).
All numbers are as of the 15th day of classes in the semester.
College President Dr. Walter Tribley says among the reasons for the numbers increase is the due to more participation on the rodeo team and this is the first semester where the college is not charging an out of state tuition rate.
“We also have 50 students in our 4-year degree program in business and leadership. We have great enrollment in our health sciences degrees and many of our degree programs on campus, so all of them important, all of them moving in the right direction. While I know it’s still a challenge for many in our community, we’re up in our enrollment, we’re almost where we were in 2019, but we don’t have the $2.8 million expense for athletics.”
As of the end of the spring 2025 semester, unduplicated headcount numbers were up 3.5% (36 students) compared to the end of the spring 2024 semester.
Full-term enrollment numbers were up 1.0% (16 students).
