Hunting regulation changes in the Sheridan Region

September 24, 2025

News – Sheridan Media

The Wyoming Game and Fish is alerting big game hunters in the Sheridan Region they will see several changes for the 2025 season.

Antler point restrictions for mule deer are in effect in several hunt areas. For general licenses in Deer Hunt Areas 19, 25, 29 and 31, antlered mule deer must have three points or more on either antler, or hunters may take any white-tailed deer. A point must measure at least one inch.

The boundaries of Elk Hunt Areas 123 and 126 in the Raven Creek area have changed. Hunters should review the written description of the new boundaries in the 2025 regulation book.

A Type 8 elk license is being offered for the first time in Elk Hunt Area 113. It is valid for a cow or calf on private land.

The general season for antlered mule deer in Deer Hunt Area 32 has been shortened compared to 2024.

A new walk-in hunting area is available in Campbell County – Campbell County #9 – open for deer, elk, antelope, turkeys and rabbits.

Johnson Walk-in Area #7 has shortened access dates this year and will close on Oct. 31. Antelope Hunt Area 23, Types 2 and 7 licenses are not valid on this property.

Game and Fish urge hunters to consult the Public Access page on the Wyoming Game and Fish Department website before entering any walk-in or hunter management area, as each property has specific rules.

Game and Fish is reminding upland bird hunters: The sage grouse season in eastern Wyoming (Hunt Areas 2 and 4) remains closed. In other parts of the state, a free annual sage grouse hunting permit is required. The permit helps wildlife managers gather timely data on hunting effort, harvest and success.

All licensed sage grouse hunters must carry the free permit along with their game bird license. Permits are valid for the calendar year and are available online or at Game and Fish regional offices but not through license-selling agents.
