An out-patient surgery facility has joined forces with Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
At last week’s Hospital Board of Directors meeting, the Board approved spending a little more than $4 million to purchase 55% of the Sheridan Surgical Center, which is a kitty corner from the southwest portion of the hospital on West 5th Street.
The Center has been around since 2005 specializes in Urology, Gastroenterology, Dental Surgery and General Surgery to name a few.
Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty explains the reasons behind the purchase.
“It makes good sense for us to be able to, if we bring them on as employees to be able to run that center separately and apart from that relationship being separate and private, so if they were employed physicians and on that privately, we would like to stay away from that and so it’s a benefit to the hospital and it’s a win-win, great for us and it’s great for them and continue to be strong partners in this community.”
In December of last year, Sheridan Orthopedic Associates joined up with the hospital.
