While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Sheridan County YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday announced that a deadline is approaching for students who were issued logbooks for this year’s Faith Scholarship.
According to Cassiday, a generous YMCA patron approached her to help facilitate a special kind of scholarship, one designed to help a soul searcher find not only faith, but community. The Faith Scholarship offers $1,000 to any student of an institution of higher learning, including trade schools and certificate programs. There are no academic requirements to qualify; eligibility is based on expanding one’s faith.

The goal is to strengthen personal faith and broaden horizons by incentivizing students to visit different places of worship. Each visitation is logged and signed by faith leaders in a hand bound book issued by the YMCA.
Cassiday said she has spoken with many returning students over the years who shared stories of meaningful experiences and unique insights into other faith traditions, opportunities few people in the world get to explore.
Logbooks must be turned in to the YMCA by Oct. 31.
