A change of plea hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for a 29-year-old woman from Washington state.. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Pursuant to the terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Christina Morlan pleaded guilty to three felony charges; endangering children for knowingly having methamphetamine in a vehicle with a child present, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver – methamphetamine, and possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.

The plea agreement recommends a sentence of 3 to 5 years in prison for each of the three charges and to run the sentences concurrent to one another. District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for January 20 at 9:45 am. Morlan’s bond was revoked and she was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center pending sentencing.

According to court documents, Morlan was arrested on June 7, 2025, after dispatch received a report of a family dispute in the parking lot of Taco Bell just before 6 pm. Shortly after officers with the Sheridan Police Department arrived on scene, it was determined that the fracas involved a vehicle with Washington plates. A female, Morlan, was behind the wheel, a male, 29-year-old Anthony Brower was in the passenger’s seat, and a two-year-old child was in the backseat.

A search of the vehicle yielded various drug paraphernalia and 36 grams of methamphetamine. Both Morlan and Brower were placed under arrest and booked into the Sheridan County Detention Center. The couple were transporting the methamphetamine from Washington state to Kansas.

An arraignment hearing for 37-year-old Sammi Morehead of Sheridan was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court. At the hearing, Morehead pleaded not guilty to one count of felony endangering children for being in possession of methamphetamine in a vehicle with a child present, two counts of felony drug possession and one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence of a controlled substance with a minor in the vehicle.

All of the alleged crimes occurred on September 4 in Sheridan County. The two drug possession charges are being prosecuted as felonies because Morehead has three previous convictions related to drug possession.

Morehead’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court.
