Sheridan County Conservation District Not Impacted Much By Government Shutdown

The federal government shutdown may have more of a direct impact on federal offices and employees, but there are a few state and local employees that are impacted as well.

One example is the Sheridan County Conservation District, which is a sub-division of the Wyoming state government, operating on a local level.

The District office is located within the US Department Of Agriculture Office, but since the latter is shut down, District employees can’t enter and work from their desks.

District Manager Carrie Rogaczewski says employees are able to work from home and got everything they needed out of their offices, before the shutdown took effect.

Rogaczewski adds as far as conducting day-to-day business goes, that hasn’t been impacted much.

“The only thing that we maybe would see would be a delay in some of the project payments, but I don’t foresee that even being an issue, because a lot of our funds that we distribute out to land owners for various projects, come from funding sources that have already been allocated, so we wouldn’t expect them to go away, just might be a little longer time in getting the turn around.”

One project that is being delayed is work on the old Acme Power Plant which requires involvement from the Environmental Protection Agency.
