The Civic House Theater Guild is announcing the walls inside the Carriage House Theater will resonate with the sounds of Christmas music Dec. 11–14, when the guild presents Christmas at the Carriage House — an evening of stories and songs celebrating the holiday season.
According to a news release, director Pat Tomsovic has assembled an ensemble of multi-talented local musicians who are rehearsing a variety of Christmas songs to put audiences in the holiday spirit. The program includes traditional English carols, 1950s favorites from artists like Brenda Lee and Frank Sinatra, bluegrass tunes, and selections from contemporary performers such as Jackson Browne, Amy Grant, and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Performers include:
Pat Tomsovic, Tami Davis, and Nancy Phillips (who performed together for more than 20 years as Spurs of the Moment)
Pianist Mary Apple
Violinist Chris Carlson
Bassist Mike Garcia
Vocalist and percussionist Janey Wing Kenyon
Flautist Cynde Georgen
Vocal duo Jenni and Chris Wolffing
Guests will also be treated to a reading of John Scalzi’s light-hearted short story An Interview with the Nativity Innkeeper, narrated by Richard Davis and Bruce Tomsovic. A sampling of Christmas cookies and hot cider will be offered during intermission.
This year’s Christmas at the Carriage House marks the tenth and final show directed by Pat Tomsovic. Beginning in the late 1990s, Tomsovic assembled local musicians for these beloved Christmas performances, which delighted Sheridan audiences for decades. She said this year’s concert will feature many of the group’s personal favorites.
Evening performances will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 11, 12, and 13. A Sunday matinee will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 14.
Tickets are available through the WYO Theater box office or online at wyotheater.com.
